    G.P. Koirala, also known as Girija Prasad Koirala, was a Nepalese politician who served as the country’s Prime Minister four times. He also served as the country’s ‘Acting Head of State’ throughout its transition from monarchy to republic. He has been involved in Nepali politics for almost sixty years, beginning with organizing the ‘Biratnagar jute mill strike’ in his hometown of Biratnagar. When the Nepali Congress, led by his brother B.P. Koirala, came to power, he became Prime Minister of the country.
