Woman chronicles unraveling life on Facebook before suicide
An Upper East Side scholar distraught over her unraveling marriage instructed a pal to change her Facebook page to say “Remembering” — then killed herself, police said.
“Thirty years of lies. I cannot live this way,” Dr. Michelle Lamarche Marrese, 52, wrote in her final Facebook posting on Oct. 25 — five days before cops found her body and a handwritten suicide note in her East 83rd Street pad.
Two days earlier, the Fulbright Scholar and Russian history expert told her pal Greta Bucher, a professor at West Point, that she was naming her as her “legacy contact’’ on the site.
“Greta Bucher: change this to ‘Remembering’ if I don’t say anything for a week,’’ Marrese wrote on Facebook.
On Oct. 22, Marrese cryptically posted, “This is for legal purposes. If the police do not commit him for 48 hours and I am harmed: You will know why. 30 years. And it was all for s–t.”
